Pupil Support

SENDCO - Katy Hodges (khodges@inclusion.sheffield.sch.uk)

SEND Family Support Worker - Nicola Marshall (nmarshall@inclusion.sheffield.sch.uk)

The Sheffield Inclusion Centre provides pupils with a personalised provision. As part of the admission process we will discuss any needs your child may have, baseline tests will then be completed by your child which may highlight further support required.  Pupils may be placed on a SEND Support Plan or My Plan (EHCP) if the needs are sufficient enough for one.

Our curriculum is designed to allow all pupils to access learning. Class sizes are small, and each class is supported by a teaching assistant. This allows for carefully planned, individualised learning.

Additional support beyond the classroom may take the form of:

  • 1-1 tuition
  • mentoring
  • reading interventions
  • bespoke curriculum pathways, eg equine therapy

We have a team of professionals who we work closely with including Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists and access to the Autism Team. We also have a family SEND support worker who will be able to support and guide you with any matters related to SEND.

What is an Education Health & Care Plan?

An Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) describes a child or young person’s special educational needs (SEN) and the help they will get to meet them. An EHC Plan also includes any health and care provision that is needed. It is a legal document written by the Local Authority and is intended to ensure that children and young people with an EHC plan receive the support they need. In order to get an Education Health and Care Plan for your child, you must first request an Education Health and Care assessment.
